Lock My Folders Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 24, 2026

Lock My Folders is designed to work locally on your device. We do not collect data from this app.

Data Collection

Lock My Folders does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal data.

The app does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, accounts, cloud sync, or remote servers.

Files You Choose

Lock My Folders accesses only the source folders and .folderlockstore vault files you select through macOS file pickers, plus the File Provider location created for an unlocked vault.

When you create a vault, the app writes an authenticated encrypted copy and verifies it before offering to move the original folder to Trash.

When you unlock a vault, the app exposes its contents locally through macOS File Provider so you can work with them in Finder.

Passphrases

Lock My Folders does not store your vault passphrase. It is used to derive encryption keys for the selected local vault.

The app stores a small rollback-protection record in your local macOS Keychain. It does not contain your passphrase or file contents.

If you forget a vault passphrase, Lock My Folders cannot recover it.

Unlocked Files and macOS

While a vault is unlocked, macOS and other apps may materialize, cache, index, preview, or retain recently used plaintext files. Relocking removes access through the vault but cannot guarantee secure deletion from APFS or SSD storage.

Network Access

Lock My Folders does not require network access for its core functionality.

Data Retention

Because Lock My Folders does not collect data, it does not retain user data on any server.

Encrypted vaults and files remain on your device at the locations you choose.

Changes to This Policy

If the app changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated before or when that change is released.
