Lock My Folders is designed to work locally

Effective date: July 15, 2026

Summary: We do not collect data from the app or operate a server that receives your files, vault details, passphrases, or usage.

Data collection

Lock My Folders does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal data. It does not include advertising, tracking, remote analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs.

Files you choose

The app accesses folders, sparsebundle vaults, and mount locations you explicitly choose through macOS file pickers. Locking and unlocking are performed locally with macOS system tools.

Passphrases

Passphrases are used for the current create or unlock operation and are not saved in the app's managed-vault list or preferences. Forgotten passphrases cannot be recovered.

Local app data

The app stores local preferences for onboarding, remembered vault display names and security-scoped file references, and simple counters used to decide when to show an optional rating prompt. These counters do not contain file names, paths, file contents, passphrases, or account identifiers and are never transmitted by the app.

Network access

No network connection is required for core vault operations. If you choose a location managed by a separate synchronization service, that service operates under its own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

Because we do not receive app data, we retain no user data on a server. You control vault files at the locations you choose. Removing the app or its preferences does not automatically delete sparsebundle vaults.

Policy changes

If a future app update changes data practices, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before or with that release.
